Following the aftermath of Nigeria’s victory against South Africa in the semifinal on Wednesday, the Ekiti government warned citizens with heart issues to stay away from watching the match.
In a statement issued by Dr Oyebanji Filani, the state commissioner for Health and Human Services, on Sunday, stated that while supporting the Super Eagles, they should be mindful of last week’s casualties by not watching the football match.
“Ensure well-ventilated spaces, keep emergency drugs nearby, stay hydrated, manage emotions during tense moments, and maintain comfortable seating.
The government however encouraged them to call the state emergency number on 112 or visit the nearest health facility for emergencies.
