The Bishop of Ibadan Anglican Diocese, the Most Revd Dr Joseph Akinfenwa has called on the need to have quality education in tertiary institutions for societal development.
Akinfenwa made this known on Sunday in his sermon at the 20th Anniversary Thanksgiving service of LeadCity University Ibadan which took place at the school’s chapel.
Akinfenwa said that education polishes the mind and as well sharpens the people to be able to contribute immensely to the growth of the society.
” Good education is not just about receiving certificates but fixing people for their place in the society. Education is a viable tool for actualising an abundant task”.
Speaking about the power of the gospel in drawing souls to the kingdom, Akinfenwa said that apart from drawing people to the kingdom of God, there is the need to educate them on the abundance that dwells in fellowshipping with God.
“We cannot bring people to Jesus Christ and leave them alone , it will run contrary to the gospel message because both are inseparable “
He however encouraged students of the university to use the opportunity they have to maintain a good legacy for the future ahead of them.
